Welcome to DocVault. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Shiklina&Shiklina LLC, operating as DocVault ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you visit our website or use our application (collectively, the "Services"). 3.1 Personal Information — When you register, we may collect your full name, email address, username and password (stored encrypted), and any profile information you choose to provide.
3.2 Payment & Billing — If you subscribe to a paid plan, billing details are processed securely through Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
3.3 Documents & File Uploads — We store documents, files, attachments, and associated metadata (file name, size, type, upload date). Your files are private by default. We do not read or analyze file contents for advertising.
3.4 Usage & Analytics — We automatically collect IP address, device type, OS, browser/app version, pages accessed, and error logs via Firebase Analytics and similar tools, used in aggregate to improve performance.

5. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We work with service providers including cloud storage providers, Stripe (payments), Firebase/Google (analytics), email/notification services, customer support platforms, and security services — all contractually bound to our data standards. We may disclose data as required by law, court order, or to protect DocVault users. In a business transfer, we will notify you and inform you of your choices.
6. User File Access Policy
We only access files to provide core functionality: storage, retrieval, and security scanning
Employees do not read your files except when required by law or with your express permission for support
We do not use file contents to train machine learning models
Automated security scanners may process file content without human review
7. Data Retention
Account data: deleted within 90 days of account closure
Uploaded documents: deleted within 30 days of account closure
Billing records: retained up to 7 years as required by law
Analytics data: retained in anonymized form for up to 24 months

10. International Data Transfers & Global Compliance

We comply with GDPR (EEA/UK/Switzerland), CCPA/CPRA (California), PIPEDA/Law 25 (Canada), Australian Privacy Act, LGPD (Brazil), and India's DPDP Act 2023. International transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and Data Processing Agreements.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shiklina&Shiklina LLC's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or $100 USD. Nothing limits our liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
This policy is governed by California law. Disputes shall first be attempted informally; if unresolved within 30 days, they proceed to binding arbitration in Orange County, California under AAA rules. This does not limit your right to contact your local supervisory authority.
13. Age Requirement
Our Services are intended solely for individuals aged 18 and older. By using DocVault, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a person under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take prompt steps to delete such information and terminate their account. 14. Cookies & Tracking
We use strictly necessary, analytics, and preference cookies. You can control these through your browser or our in-app preferences panel. We do not use tracking for targeted advertising.

By accessing or using DocVault (the "Services"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must immediately cease all use of the Services. If using the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Services. By agreeing to these Terms, you represent that you are at least 18, have legal capacity to enter a binding contract, are not prohibited from using the Services under applicable law, and that all information you provide is accurate and complete. Accounts found to belong to individuals under 18 will be terminated and data deleted.
3. Description of Services
DocVault provides a cloud-based document management platform for uploading, storing, organizing, retrieving, and collaborating on documents and files, including the website (www.docvaultapp.com), desktop and/or mobile application, document storage, version history, edit logs, collaboration and sharing features, and related tools. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Services at any time without liability.
4. Account Registration and Security
To access most features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, accept responsibility for all activity under your account, and notify us immediately at hello@docvaultapp.com of any suspected unauthorized use. You may not share account credentials with any third party.
5. Subscriptions, Payments, and Billing
5.1 Paid Plans — Certain features require a paid subscription. All prices are in USD unless otherwise stated.
5.2 Payment Processing — Payments are processed securely through Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant). DocVault does not store full card numbers.
5.3 Auto-Renewal — Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
5.4 Refunds — All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
5.5 Billing Records — Retained up to 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use the Services to upload unlawful or harmful content; distribute malware; violate applicable laws; infringe third-party intellectual property; harvest personal information; send spam; attempt unauthorized access; engage in data scraping without consent; or facilitate fraudulent or harmful activity. Violations may result in account suspension, termination, and reporting to law enforcement.
7. User Content and Intellectual Property
7.1 Your Content — You retain all ownership rights to your files. By uploading, you grant DocVault a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and process your content solely to provide the Services.
7.2 File Access — Files are private by default. Employees do not access your files except when required by law, with your express permission for support (logged for audit), or via automated security scanners. We do not use file contents to train ML models or for advertising.
7.3 Your Representations — You warrant you own or have rights to your content, it does not infringe third-party rights, and it complies with these Terms.
7.4 DocVault IP — All DocVault software, text, graphics, and logos are owned by Shiklina&Shiklina LLC. Nothing grants you the right to use DocVault's trademarks without prior written consent.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference. We do not sell your personal data. We use AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS/HTTPS in transit. Account data is deleted within 90 days and documents within 30 days of account closure. Privacy rights inquiries: hello@docvaultapp.com.
9. Third-Party Services
The Services integrate with Stripe (payments) and Firebase/Google (analytics). These are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. DocVault is not responsible for third-party content, privacy practices, or reliability.
10. Disclaimers of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. DOCVAULT PROVIDES NO SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT (SLA) AND DOES NOT GUARANTEE ANY MINIMUM LEVEL OF UPTIME OR AVAILABILITY. THE SERVICES MAY BE INTERRUPTED AT ANY TIME WITHOUT LIABILITY.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHIKLINA&SHIKLINA LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. DOCVAULT'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100. NOTHING LIMITS LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR GROSS NEGLIGENCE.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Shiklina&Shiklina LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and fees (including attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your User Content, or your violation of any third-party rights.
13. Data Security and Breach Notification
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS/HTTPS, AES-256, role-based access controls, MFA, and regular audits. No security measures are impenetrable. In the event of a material data breach, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
14. Termination
By You — Contact hello@docvaultapp.com to close your account. Account data deleted within 90 days; documents within 30 days.
By DocVault — We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or conduct harmful to others, with or without notice. Sections 7, 10, 11, 12, 15, and 16 survive termination.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Non-arbitrated matters are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Orange County, California.
16.2 Binding Arbitration — Unresolved disputes settled by binding arbitration under AAA Commercial Arbitration Rules in Orange County, California.
16.3 Class Action Waiver — YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.
16.5 Time Limit — Any claim must be commenced within one (1) year after the cause of action accrues.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. General Provisions
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and DocVault. Invalid provisions will be modified to the minimum extent necessary. You may not assign these Terms without prior written consent. DocVault is not liable for failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control (force majeure).
